This was a great result for the Deres on a wet windy Saturday afternoon at Foxbury Avenue. The game started at 100 miles an hour pace with both Stansfeld and The Deres making chances but not taking them.
It was the Deres who drew first blood when after a good move down the left a cross came over and Lee Friend found the back of the net with a header, taking just 16 minutes to mark his Deres comeback with a goal.
Joe Minter equalised for Stansfeld on 35 minutes before the ever-reliable Harry Harding smashed home The Deres’ second goal with a fantastic 25 yard free kick in the 42nd minute. Jerome Wade scored a well deserved goal on 45 minutes sending the Deres into the break with a comfortable two goal lead.
The second half started with Deres debutant Joshua Flower replaced by Guyliano Mpungi, Luke Rooney scored a 2nd goal for Stansfeld on 53 minutes setting up a frantic last 37 minutes, It was the Deres who showed great character and discipline to keep their shape and play good football in tricky conditions.
On 65 minutes Chan Quan who was busy all afternoon scored the fourth for the Deres easing the nerves of the faithful Deres fans who braved the bad weather to see their team remain unbeaten after 7 games, winning 5 drawing 2.
Former Stansfeld player Reggie Yembra replaced Lee Friend on 64 minutes and soon made a nuisance of himself then scored from close range to give the Deres a very well deserved 5-2 victory,
