Match Report | 15 September 2019 FA Vase 2nd qualifying round
Erith and Belvedere 9 Mpungi 34, Pope-Campbell 43, Adeniran 52, 65, 74, Ngegba 56, 54, Quan 84, De Melo 88 Oakwood 2 Familton 61, 87 On a glorious Indian summer afternoon the Deres ran riot against a below-strength Oakwood side to record a massive victory on the day John McFadden returned to Park View Road for the first time in six months. It was: - the Deres' record FA Vase win, beating the 7-0 victory v Sidlesham on 21 September 2008; - our biggest win in any match since the 10-2 Kent League win v Sporting Bengal United on 21 February 2009; - our biggest cup win since beating Faversham Town by the same score in the Kent League Cup on 27 November 2007, although that was a group stage game rather than a knockout. The last time we had a bigger cup win was a 9-1 Corinthian League Memorial Shield replay v Uxbridge on 26 January 1952! - the 9th time we've scored 9 or more in a cup tie, and four of those were in the peculiar circumstances of wartime football. Deres' team was: Stevens, Hill, Dobson, De Melo, Yembra, Jones (Kalonda 53), Feudjiro, Quan, Pope-Campbell (Ngegba 53), R Wade (Mpungi 18), Adeniran. Stephen McCartney from Kentish Football website was in attendance, and his excellent report and interview with Owen Jones can be found at http://kentishfootball.co.uk/news/eritoakw150919 . |
