ALFIE MOVES ON
Posted by Brian Spurrell on 3 January 2020
Deres fans will be interested to know that the club's former star striker Alfie May has completed a transfer from Doncaster Rovers to Cheltenham Town.
Alfie joined the Deres from Corinthian at the start of the 2014-15 season, hit five goals on his debut and went on to set records for the earliest date in a season a Deres player has reached 10, 20, 30 and 40 goals. He was instrumental in our run to the FA Vase quarter-final and third in the SCEFL, and if it hadn't been for a three-week spell at Farnborough in autumn, he might have reached a goal tally that would have been beyond Harry Harding last season.
In all he bagged 41 goals in 2014-15 (our 3rd highest ever) and a further 7 at the start of the following season before signing for Hythe Town, from where he signed for Doncaster at the start of 2016.
He didn't become a regular starter at Rovers, although he scored 23 goals in 116 appearances. Plus he hit the side nettng at the Emirates and was Rovers' man of the match when Doncaster lost 1-0 to Arsenal in a League Cup tie.
