STONE THE CROWS!  THREE IN FIVE AGAIN FOR DERES

After wringing themselves out following the rainlashed draw at Bearsted, Deres had a sluggish start at Crowborough but came away with the points.

After Joe Gbode got across his man and headed against the post in the opening minutes, Henry Dasofunjo opened the scoring with a superb 7th minute free-kick.  They had a couple more chances and Drew Allassani brought a good save from the home keeper.  However manager Danny Murphy would later comment “we were very sloppy in the first half and gave away possession too easily.  In the second half we did much better and really looked like we were back to our normal selves.”

The second half saw another five-minute three-goal salvo following the one at Loxwood in the Vase.  The first of these was one of the goals of the season: a superb free-kick by Luke Rooney, a flick over a defender’s head by Gbode who squared it for Drew Allassani to score.  Then in quick succession Ollie Bate finished another good move with a third goal, Dasofunjo hit the bar from 25 yards and Bate dinked the keeper for a fourth.

Deres were turning it on and Crowborough contributed to an outstanding second half.  They stole a goal in the last minute through Welsh to deny Anibaba a clean sheet, but the Deres looked back in business.

DERES: Rilwan Anibaba; Kazzeem Richards, Marlon Patterson, Luke Rooney, Calum McGeehan, Reece Barrett, Henry Dasofunjo, Louis Sprosen, Joseph Gbode Drew Allassani, Ollie Bate.
