HEAVY DEFEAT FOR SUB-PARR DERES
Storm Arwen in the end put paid to the Deres’ chances of further progress in the Kent Senior Trophy. Whereas some people were lucky enough to have a weekend lock-in in a pub with an Oasis tribute band, the waterlogged pitch at Deal on Saturday 27th resulted in a short-notice trip to the coast for the Deres. Consequently team availability was affected by work commitments: the team line-up was a question of who was available, and since Rilwan Anibaba wasn’t, Marlon Patterson spent the game in goal.
Tom Chapman opened the scoring on five minutes, Billy Munday added a second midway through the half and made it three just on 44 minutes. Lee Lewis reduced the arrears immediately before the break.
But the Deres’ makeshift line-up had little chance against one of the form teams of the division. Chapman added his second on 54 minutes and Sam Wilson made it 5‑1 on 64 minutes. Tyler Anderson-Parr got another consolation to make it 5-2 eight minutes from time, but in the last minute Connor Coyne rounded off a resounding win. The Deres travelled back to concentrate on other competitions…
DERES: Marlon Patterson; Lee Lewis, Teddy Green, Harvey Brand, Luke Rooney, Calum McGeehan, Kazzeem Richards, Freddie Cray, Ashley Carew, Ryan Flack, James Dyer. Subs used: Tyler Anderson-Parr, Drew Allassani.
