DEL'S NEW BACKROOM BOYS
Posted by Brian Spurrell on 4 June 2020
Deres manager Del Oldfield today announced his backroom team to take us into season 2020-21, pandemic permitting. Joining Del in the dugout will be assistant manager Owen Price, player/coach Marlon Patterson and Player Liaison Officer Larry Hays. Owen and Marlon both join us from Lordswood FC.
Owen is a former England schoolboy international and came through Charlton Athletic and Tottenham’s youth teams. He spent a couple of seasons (2006-07) in Sweden and Finland, making top-flight appearances in the Finnish league for TPS Turku. Returning to England, he had spells with Northwich Victoria and Farnborough. More recently he played for various local teams including Greewich, Chatham, Hythe, Phoenix and Deres, where he had his first coaching experience in Luke Coleman’s team before becoming assistant manager to Darren Anslow at Lordswood last year. He made 15 appearances for us in 2017-18 and has the distinction of being our first ever 4th substitute! – when he came on in a Hospitals Cup tie v Stansfeld.
Marlon graduated from Millwall and Chelsea’s youth teams, and played for Fisher, Carshalton and Dulwich as a youngster. He signed for Histon in 2009, making his debut in an FA Cup third round tie v Swansea City, then played for Dulwich Hamlet before moving on to Bromley, for whom he made nearly 200 appearances in two separate spells.
