NEW SEASON, NEW SIGNINGS

Posted by Brian Spurrell on 10 June 2022

Joining new manager Tony Beckingham at the Deres are a good mix of new names and familiar ones.  None more familiar than assistant manager Andy Constable, a double-winning Deres legend with 64 goals over two seasons 2011-13.

On the pitch, we are delighted to announce that LEE LEWIS, REECE BARRETT, NATHAN PALMER and JAMES HAWKINS will remain with us for the coming season.  They are joined by the following new signings:

TUNDE ADERONMU: Tunde is a proven forward at this level and will add to our talented squad, a league winner for Beckenham Town last year finishing the season with 25 goals.  Tunde has previously played for Sittingbourne, Fisher and Cray Valley.

LUKE CAREY: Luke was a product of the Charlton Athletic academy from u9’s before signing a professional deal. Subsequently he had spells at Margate, Ramsgate and most recently played for Sheppey United.

TOM CARLTON: a very talented midfielder who played youth and academy football at Chelsea, West Ham and Colchester before initially joining Herne Bay in 2017. He had further spells at Hythe Town and Whitstable Town… but is now officially a Dere.

RYAN HUCKLE, 22, joins on a 1 year contract.  He is a strong and combative central defender / defensive midfielder who will add size and presence to the Deres’ side. Ryan had six years at Gillingham Academy before making appearances for Faversham Town, Hastings United and Leatherhead. A fantastic addition by the management team.

MALACHI HUDSON: Winger/Striker who has previously played for Walton Casuals, Welling United, Kingstonian and Greenwich Borough and will add real pace and flair to the Deres’ forward line.

RYAN JOHNSON returns to the club having made 52 appearances for Folkestone Invicta last season just missing out on promotion.  Coincidentally he also made 52 appearances for the Deres in 2014-15, finishing 3rd in the SCEFL and reaching the FA Vase quarter-final.  Ryan has previously played with Vanarama National League South sides Maidstone United and Welling United. Ryan 35, boasts plenty of experience and the management/club are delighted with this fantastic signing.

JACK MILES: A commanding central defender who made over 200 appearances for his hometown club Sevenoaks Town whilst playing in the Southern Counties East and Isthmian Leagues.  His time at Sevenoaks included a Step 5 championship season in 2017-18. Jack has also had spells at Ashford United and Whitstable Town. A fantastic addition to the playing squad.

GEORGE MONGER: 27 year old central midfielder who has featured just under 150 times for Faversham Town FC and was part of Dartford’s academy as a youngster before making the jump to the first team.  He has also played for Ramsgate FC and Whitstable Town. George is a fantastic addition to the Deres squad and will add quality to the midfield.

MAX MORGAN: Max is a pacey forward with an eye for goal who can play centrally or on either flank. His last club was Sheppey, previous clubs include Faversham, Holmesdale and K Sports.

ADAM MOLLOY: Adam brings over 13 years experience playing at various levels of Non-League since the age of 16. He started his youth ranks being on the books at West Ham and even represented England at U18 Schoolboy Level.  Adam was a quadruple winner last season for Sheppey United.  A superb goalkeeper who kept 24 clean sheets last season and was nominated for Step 5 Goalkeeper of the Year.

NAD NWITUA and KAMEIKO POPE-CAMPBELL: Both return for second spells at the Deres.  And made 73 appearances and 12 subs from 2015-18, scoring 9 goals.  KPC made 42 appearances and 3 subs from 2018-20, scoring 17 goals.

RORY WARD: Rory is a versatile attacking midfielder who joins from Holmesdale FC after a very successful season that saw him score 10 goals and scoop the player of year award. Welcome to the club Rory.

BEN WILSON: The defender, who can fill in at left-back and centre-back is a fantastic addition with lots of experience in the Isthmian League. A great character and his second spell at the club.  Ben was previously with the Deres in 2014-15, totalling 49 starts and 5 sub appearances with 3 goals, and nobody who was there will forget his superb run to set up the winner at Holbeach that took us to the FA Vase quarter-final.

We welcome back KELLIE DISCIPLINE as vice president: she is currently vice chair of the Kent FA, and was league secretary of the Isthmian league for 11 years, becoming its first female director and CEO.  She gave the club outstanding service as team secretary for many years and it’s great to see her return.

SAM WOODS has joined the board of directors.  He has been an avid supporter and sponsor of the club for the last couple of seasons and can’t wait to join the project. Sam is the current CEO of Acclaim Handling, the biggest supplier of used forklift trucks and MHE in the UK with a proud 40 year history.

Last but not least LEWIS MITCHELL joins the management team as goalkeeping coach linking up with old friend Andy Constable.  Lewis made 4 appearances between the sticks for Deres in 2019-20.
