Nik: Could you give us a summary of how Kennington’s season has gone so far?
Jon: A very much stop start season. After losing the spine of our side from last season we have very much turned to youth and you can see slowly the improvement of the side week to week. We had another great run in the FA Vase and managed to hold our own vs a high flying Walton and Hersham in the FA Cup. The consequence of a cup run and cancelled fixtures means we have got behind with our league games but on the flip side we have had a wrath of injuries since the beginning of the season losing 3x of our more experienced players to long term injuries but the lack of games has meant they have been able to recover and hopefully 2x of them will be able to take part in the 2nd part of the season. Our league form has very up and down having beaten 5 of the top 9 but also lost to some teams at the bottom but we know we have the ability to beat anyone on our day.
Nik: Do you see next Saturday as a chance to continue your good run in the league and build on your impressive result against Stansfeld?
Jon: After Saturday’ result I see no reason why we can’t go into the game full of confidence.
Nik: Your thoughts and a prediction on the match against us?
Jon: I have no doubt we will give you a much better game this time (6-1 Deres victory). We had injures, travel nightmares and some dubious decisions all go against us and playing a team as good as E&B you don’t need that (Good luck with the M.20 !) I go for 2-2
Nik: Hopes for the rest of Kennington’s season?
Jon: I have high hopes for the rest of the season. Winning our games in hand will take us into the top 5 and with players returning from injury I see no reason why we can’t maintain that position.
