The Opposing View – Redbridge FC v Erith & Belvedere, London Senior Cup, Tuesday 01st November 2022
with Adam Silver, Redbridge FC Programme Editor
Brief summary of the league Redbridge currently play in and how the season has started?
We currently ply our trade in the Essex Senior League, where we have been since 2014/15 after relegation from the then Ryman League. Last season’s 3rd place finish was our best yet, just missing out on a play off place by just 2 points, manager George Christou however has kept the majority of the squad along with some new additions, as we look to gain promotion this time around. A good start to the season sees us sitting 3rd at time of writing, in the national competitions we suffered an early FA Cup exit at the hands of fellow ESL side Takeley, whilst we were knocked out the FA Vase last week by Biggeswade United.
What do you know of Erith & Belvedere?
As the club statistician I see we have crossed paths with E&B on two previous occasions under our current guise of Redbridge FC, that was back in the Ryman North 2013/14 campaign, where we fell to a 3-1 away defeat whilst won 1-0 in the reverse home fixture.
Thoughts on the upcoming cup match?
I see they(Erith & Belvedere) have started the season very strongly and therefore I am expecting a tough tie and would not be surprised to see both sides make changes from their normal starting XI’s, however with Brentford B at home waiting in the next round, it’s a match both sides will be looking to win.
