Tony Talks v Tunbridge Wells

"TONY TALKS"

Our last fixture away to Sutton on Tuesday night saw us run out 3-0 winners and put an end to an unbelievable run for the home side. They had not been beaten at home for 346 days which by any standard is incredible. We knew how hard this game was going to be, as even without knowing that stat prior to the game, nobody ever goes to that ground and gets an easy ride.  They played very well, passing the ball around, and it was obvious that this was going to be a very hard night. Going into the break 2‑0 up allowed us to take a more patient approach in the second half and the game was put to bed towards the end when Tunde scored number 3.

We are under no illusions; Tunbridge Wells will be an extremely tough nut to crack and whatever we get out of this game (if anything) will have been hard earnt. They have quality within their side that can undo you as I well know. Trevor McCreadie is a player I know very well having had the pleasure of managing him. He is a natural goalscorer and is as good as they get, if we give him half a chance, he will make us pay. I sincerely hope he has a bad day at the office today, but it’s great to see that he’s not lost his goalscoring acumen.

We will be trying to continue with our good start to the season and take absolutely nothing for granted. We take each game as it comes and just keep doing the hard graft and hope that we have enough quality to win games. There are no prizes given out for being top of the league at this stage of the season, it’s a long, long road before you get to the end. Let’s just try to keep going with a view to improve week on week and see where it takes us.

I hope that you enjoy the game today and we look forward to your loyal and continued support for the remainder of the season.

Good luck to us!
