'Tony Talks'

Good evening, I would like to welcome you all to Park View Road tonight for this Kent Senior Trophy game against Tunbridge Wells. The last time we met in the league, we were at the wrong end of a resounding defeat. Tonight promises to be another competitive game with both sides looking to progress into the quarter finals. Since our last home game against Canterbury, we have had two extremely tough away league fixtures against Erith Town and Deal Town respectively. We managed to win both of those games which was a fantastic achievement by the players and keeps our momentum going in the league. Both of those grounds are extremely tough places to go and get points, Deal Town in particular is a bear pit with nearly 500 supporters cheering them on. We are under no illusions; Tunbridge Wells will be an extremely tough nut to crack and whatever we get out of this game (if anything) will have been hard earnt. Well organised, physically strong and committed are just three ways I would use to describe them, but they also have quality within their side that can undo you as well. This was evident in the league fixture when a certain Mr McCreadie decided to score 4 goals against us. Not a very nice way to treat his old manager and a friend of his dad’s! It’s nice to take a break from league action and cup games do provide a welcome distraction from the grind of league fixtures. Who doesn’t enjoy a cup game and a cup run! Every club wants to reach a cup final and we’re no different, the Kent Senior Trophy is one of the most prestigious cup competitions that we’re involved in. We really want to try and go as far as we can in the competition, Tunbridge Wells will of course be looking to do the same. I hope that you enjoy the game today and we look forward to your loyal and continued support for the remainder of the season. Good luck to us!
